safeTALK

Raphoe Family Resource Centre are hosting safeTALK Training (Suicide Alertness for Everyone) on Monday 23rd September from 7.00pm to 10.30pm.  This training is FREE to attend and delivered by the HSE National Office for Suicide Prevention and Donegal Connecting for Life.  .  Details of the course are as follows:

SafeTALK is a 3.5 hour suicide alertness programme that prepares participants to identify persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them to suicide first aid resources. These specific set of skills are called suicide alertness and are
taught with the expectation that the person learning them will use them to help to help reduce suicide risk in their community.

Content:
As a safeTALK trained suicide alert helper, you will be better able to:
• Move beyond the common tendencies to miss, dismiss or avoid suicide;
• Identify people who have thoughts of suicide;
• Apply the TALK steps (Tell, Ask, Listen & Keepsafe) to connect a person with thoughts to suicide first-aid intervention caregivers.

For Whom:
This training is suitable for anyone over the age of 18 who is prepared to be a suicide alert helper.

For further information on the training and to book your place please email CDLMSTraining@pieta.ie.  Or if you need assistance to register contact Laura at the Family Resource Centre on 0749145796

It is recommended that anyone who has been bereaved or affected by a suicide within the past 12 months do not attend, as structured training like SafeTALK is probably not what they need.
